Hello friends,
Yesterday I went to my dealer for 45 000 km inspection. Just one year and one week after I picked my RX400h from him. While waiting form my car
I had a chance for a short test drive of RX450h. Before I left, the dealer told me that 450 seems to be more "lazy" then 400 as it is more heavy.
So I left for a ride, which showed the car was a bit more lazy then my 400 however the engine is more powerful. Then I have noticed on the
display ECO MODE, which I figured it is economical mode. I have not found out how to switch it off so as I returned to the dealer I asked him
to switch off and then we left together for a new ride as I convinced him that now the 450 will be no more lazy. And I was right....the power is there,
the acceleration is fantastic. In general 450 is more comfortable, seats are better, drive is a bit more smooth, starting the engine with power button is great. I had no time to familiar myself with all controls, there seems to be more buttons then in 400. Head up display is great, active cruise control, too.
As the main display is now more deep in the front it seems there is a bit more space around the driver. As you unbutton the safety belt the seat moves back a bit to ease getting out of the care. However I was not so happy with the main display, it looks more as PC desktop screen and as I wear
glasses and do not see well it was not so easy for me to orient myself on the screen. Maybe change of colors would help but I have not checked the
settings if it is possible. It seems to me the new display is giving more information at once but they are not so clearly visible (for me) as less information on current display. Using the "mouse" was o.k., even during the drive, however my first impression was that the touch screen was more convenient.
I had no chance to try iPod compatibility as it has to be connected via mini USB connector. Bluetooth connection with my iPhone was immediate
unfortunately I have not tried phonebook transfer. Making calls was o.k. as in 400. I hope this give you some basic information about new 450 and
it helps you to concentrate on some specific issues in time of your test drive. Please, see attached some pictures taken with my iPhone.

Thank you for your advice. As I already have some small scratches on the front from flying stones, I decided to go for the film. Winter is coming
and the use more and more these small stones on the roads (do not know the correct term). My Lexus dealer will do it.

Hello Bluesman,Try asking in the US forum - those films are far more popular over there.
The idea is fine - the question is finding someone here who can apply the film correctly.
3.5 years back when I attended the
"ML Experience" in Bitburg, all cars had a film like this applied - for evident reasons.

Hi,
I use Blizzak 235/55 R18 100H LM25.
First frost is forecasted for tomorrow, so I think soon I will know what I have.
There is special road sign defining the roads with mandatory winter tyres. Mostly in mountains but also
some parts of the main highway between Prague and Brno. As I travel a lot around the country I just
have to obey the law......

Hi,In der aktuellen SUV-Winterreifentest von AutoBildAllrad (255/55-18 - noch nicht Online verfügbar) ist der CrossContact UHP als Sommer-Vergleichsreifen dabei. Bei Nässe und Trockenheit gut - Abrollgeräusch, Winterfahrverhalten und Rollwiederstand dagegen recht miserabel. Nichts für mich, also - aber vielleicht hilft der aggressivere Profil wenn man sich offroad geirrt?

I have just completed my first 16 000 km on Dunlop Sport. They were on the car as I bought it. In General not bad.
I have not noticed any disturbing noise, once I was hit by really a heavy rain on the road with a lot of water on the
road and I had to problems. It seems to me the design is good for handling the water. After 16 000 km I have not noticed
any significant wear. As it is obligatory starting 1st November to use winter tyres on some roads here, I have switched
already to Bridgestone Blizzak.

Hallo,Ich habe über's Wochenende zufälligerweise ein RX400h mit diesen
Reifentyp gesehen - eine der recht wenigen Wahlmöglichkeiten in 235/55-18.
Der serienmäßige Dunlop Sport 270
sieht ja hiermit verglichen sehr zahm aus :thumbup: .
Leider hatte ich kein brauchbares Fotoapparat dabei, denn obwohl diese Reifen in der Standardgröße 235/55-18 waren, kamen die größer vor - in der Tat glaubte ich, das es sich um 255/55-18'er handelte.
Hat jemand zufällig Erfahrungen mit dieser Reifentyp??

i am afraid that discussions with lexus personal will be not very informative. as far as i know, the only country's where lexus dealers are installing vaistech units are switzerland an UK.
where do you live in czech republic? should we meet when i am next time in prague? i have a vaistech soundlinQ SLI installed.

Hello friends,
Just a quick note. I am already at 11 000 km. The average fuel consumption on my last tank is 7,6 l/100 km.
I was in Germany a week ago, what a joy to let the car go on the highway - 180 - 200 km/h. Super smooth
drive !! The car is really very good, it is as I have expected, however I was a bit worried if it really match my expectations. The only major disappointment is the ML audio system non-compatibility with my iPod. Well, thanks god it plays the
music. I hope Lexus will come with some software update, soon. That is all for today. I will be back again....

I stay with English this time and I hope you do not mind. I attach pictures of my RX. I have made already 1451 km and it was great. I have Dunlop Sport tyres. I drove through heavy rain storm two days ago with a lot of water on the road and I was surprised how good was the handling of the car. The only negative thing I have to report is the fact that despite original Lexus iPod adapter it does not work with my iPod as I would wish. We need to find a skilled hacker who could integrate iTunes to Lexus navi software. This brings me to my question - unblocking of navi and phone. Is it done by every Lexus dealer in Germany or only by some of them ? Can you recommend me a dealer who can do it well and quickly?

Vielen Dank für Ihren herzliches Willkommen. Ich antworte gleich auf Ihre Fragen - Bilder kommen später. Ich hoffe, frei zu sein diese Wochenende um einige Bildern zu machen. Betreffend meine Wahl - es gab vom drei Autos zu wählen oder von fünf bis sechs Monaten zu warten. Da ich das Auto für meine Arbeit benötige, darf ich nicht so lange warten.
Es gab ein Schwarzes, eins in kupfernem braunem und diesem rotem. Jeden hat schwarzes Auto hier, Kupferbraun ist nicht so nett also die Wahl war - rotes Auto. Sowieso war Rot sogar meine bevorzugte Wahl. Alle Autos im beige Leder, mit dem holz und Dachfenster. Alle mit Mark Levinson Audio. Ich lasse dazu nur einen iPod-Adapter eingebaut.
Meine Wahl wurde alu und kein Dachfenster sein. So bildete ich gerade nur diesen kleinen Kompromiß. Seit Gestern bin ich schon 429 Kilometer gefahren mit Durchschnitt von 9.5 L Treibstoff. Morgen fahre ich eine Hin- und Rückreise von ungefähr 800 Kilometern. Ich bin zurück hier dieses Wochenende mit mehr Anmerkungen und mit einigen Fragen auch.

So endlich habe ich heute meine RX400h , in metalic rot, voll austatung, gekriegt. Schon 130 km heute gefaren. Das war so schon.... so morgen noch 300 km!!!

Sorry for using English, I can read German but not write. I am just ready to buy RX400h. I live in mountain region with some snow and ice on the roads.

I wish to thank to all forum members who helped me 8 years ago to make my decision and buy my RX400h. After nearly 8 years and 217 000 km it is time to say good bye to my car. I am absolutely top satisfied with the car and with Lexus care. I can only recommend Lexus to anyone who wish to own really a reliable car.
My car is for sale, now and I have decided to go only electric and made my order few days ago.
So once more many thanks for all your support and good bye.
