    Recall 2012

2013 GS 350 F-Sport On May 16, 2012, Lexus filed a Defect Information Report (DIR) with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicating it will conduct a voluntary safety recall of approximately 650 – early 2013 model year GS 350 F Sport Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) vehicles to update the Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) electronic control unit (ECU) calibration. On certain early 2013 model year GS 350 F-Sport RWD vehicles, the ECU for the VGRS system could cause the steering wheel to become off-centered when restarting the vehicle immediately after the vehicle is parked with the steering wheel turned. Dealers will update the VGRS ECU calibration to address the condition. Owners of the involved vehicles will receive a safety recall notification by first-class mail beginning in early June 2012. Any authorized Lexus dealer will perform this update at no charge to the vehicle owner. The repair is expected to take approximately 30 minutes depending on the dealer’s schedule. No other Toyota or Lexus models are covered by this safety recall. June 29, 2012 Toyota Motor Sales Announces Amendment to 2009 Recall 2010 Lexus RX added to potential floor mat interference campaign TORRANCE, Calif. (June 29, 2012) -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced that it has amended its recall from late 2009, adding two models to address the potential for unsecured or incompatible floor mat entrapment of the accelerator pedal. The models added are: • 2010 RX 350 (approximately 131,800 vehicles) and • 2010 RX 450h (approximately 22,200 vehicles) Owners of the involved vehicles will receive a safety recall notification by first class mail in early August 2012. Lexus dealers will remedy the involved vehicles at no cost to the customers. Detailed information and answers to questions are available at or www.lexus.com/recall and Lexus Customer Satisfaction 2010 Lexus RX Added to Accelerator Pedal Recall The 2010 Lexus RX 350 & RX 450h have now been added to the 2009 recall that addresses the possibility of unsecured or incompatible floor mats entrapping the accelerator pedal. 2010 RX owners will receive notification by first class mail in early August 2012, and Lexus dealers will perform the recall fix at no cost to the customers. For detailed information, you can get details on the Lexus website or call the Lexus Customer Satisfaction line at 1-800-255-3987. Update: In my haste to publish this story, I mistakenly included 2013 in the title rather than 2010. Sorry for any confusion.
